A chilblain (perniosis) is an abnormal tissue reaction to cold, when the temperature is above freezing level. Chilblains occur mostly in cold and humid climates among young people who are predisposed to Raynaud’s vasoconstriction. A chilblain appears usually as a bluish-red skin eruptions on extremities and is accompanied by swelling, itch and pain.
