Miliaria is a common disease caused by a number of factors, mainly due to sweat gland reaction to heat exposure. Although heat exposure is the leading cause of miliaria it's significance should not be overestimated and other etiologies should be considered: disposable medical clothing, medications, prolonged bed immobilization, emotional, hormonal, and other factors can induce miliaria as well. Miliaria has often been misdiagnosed and mistakenly treated as a bacterial skin infection.
