POLYDACTYLY is more than the normal number of fingers or toes.  The condition is usually inherited as an autosomal dominant and some forms of Polydactyly are autosomal recessives.

There are many different forms of polydactyly

  • familial polydactyly (inherited trait)
  • Ellis-van Creveld syndrome (chondroectodermal dysplasia)
  • carpenter syndrome
  • trisomy 13
  • Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome
  • Smith-Lemli-Opitz
  • Laurence-Moon-Biedl syndrome
  • asphyxiating thoracic dystrophy
