Inflammatory linear verrucous

epidermal nevus (ILVEN)

The patient presents with erythematous linear pruritic  unilateral eruptions that extend from the right dorsal foot to the gluteal region. The histopathological findings show a psoriasiform appearance; however, development of the clinical picture  and the course of the disease which includes unusual resistance to treatment indicate that it is ILVEN.

Inflammatory linear verrucous epidermal nevus (ILVEN) is  an uncommon chronic dermatosis that typically appears during a child's first few years of life, though instances of adult onset have also been reported with erythematous linear pruritic  unilateral eruptions which have a tendency to be resistant to treatment. Due to its psoriasiform histopathologic appearance linear psoriasis must be considered in a differential diagnosis.
